Paper Nest Dolls 'Vintage' Challenge

Hello my friends!  It's time for another Paper Nest Dolls challenge.  The theme for PNDC #14 is 'Vintage' Challenge.  The challenge begins today, 9/30 and ends on Friday 10/11.

What's a challenge without prizes  - there are 4 winners in total for each challenge - 3 winners chosen by our design team and these winners get one free PND digi of their choice (which let me tell you will be hard to pick since all the images are so darn adorable) - and 1 randomly chosen winner who will receive this awesome prize package.

When I saw the theme for this challenge I was a little worried.  I'm not really a vintage kind of girl, so what was I going to create?????  After some serious thinking I came up with an idea.....vintage to me means old, and old to me means black and white - so I colored my image in shades of gray (a monochromatic look) and then used blacks and grays for the papers.  The adorable image I used is called 'Aristocrat Owen' and he is colored with COPICS.  Since he's monochromatic it's an easy list of COPICS to post!  C0, C1, C3, C5, C7 and C9.
Here's a close up of my image.
Please click this link  PND Challengeto enter this challenge.  Here are a few housekeeping items you should know when playing along:
  • You are not required to use a PND stamp in order to participate
  • Any type of project can be submitted, it doesn't have to be a card
  • Winners will be announced at the start of the next new challenge
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!  I look forward to seeing what you create!!

Paper Nest Dolls 'Fall' Challenge

Hello my friends!  It's time for another Paper Nest Dolls challenge.  The theme for PNDC #13 is 'Fall' Challenge.  The challenge begins today, 9/16 and ends on Friday 9/27.

This prize package is special because it's the first time Christine has included a rubber stamp.  Just a note to the winner - you can pick any of her fall themed stamps - it doesn't have to be the one pictured below (although it is pretty cute)!
Christine, the owner and illustrator of the Paper Nest Dolls has some wonderful images for Fall but I had something else in mind.  I used her image called 'Give Thanks Ellie'.  I had pictured in my mind that I wanted to show a tree with lots of fall colored leaves.  So I cut some brown cardstock into a tree shape and then punched out a TON of leaves using many different fall colors.  I love that Ellie is dressed in her little Indian dress and while this would be a perfect image for Thanksgiving I thought I could use her for Fall as well.  I think they call that creative license.

She is colored with COPIC markers and then fussy cut - I used foam adhesive to pop her up to give her dimension.  The 'Welcome Fall' sentiment is made using Tim Holtz label letters.

Here's a close up of Ellie

The back to school project I decided to make is a card showing school spirit!  I love this image from Mo Manning called "Gimme a Bee' - makes me want to yell 'GO TEAM'.
She's colored with COPIC markers, cut out with scalloped circles dies from LifeStyle Craft (fka QuicKutz) in various sizes.  The letters were die cut and stamped using Lawn Fawn's 'Quinn's ABCs' and colored with COPIC markers.  The orangey-yellow scallop was run through my Big Shot machine using the 'Dots' embossing folder from Cuttlebug.

Paper Nest Dolls 'CAS Card' Challenge

Hello my friends!  It's time for another Paper Nest Dolls challenge.  The theme for PNDC #12 is 'CAS Card' Challenge.  If you're not familiar with what a CAS card is it stands for Clean And Simple.  It's the type of card that doesn't include a ton of embellishments, etc.  I like to think of it as a card that would be easy to replicate if need be.  The challenge begins today, 9/2 and ends on Friday 9/13....oh no....a Friday the 13th...oh well, I wish everyone good luck when it rolls around.

What's a challenge without prizes  - there are 4 winners in total for each challenge - 3 winners chosen by our design team and these winners get one free PND digi of their choice (which let me tell you will be hard to pick since all the images are so darn adorable) - and 1 randomly chosen winner who will receive this awesome prize package

The image I chose for this challenge is 'Groovy Owen'.  When I saw this image I remembered a stamp set I have from The Stamps of Life called 'Pray4Peace' and it has some great sayings and wonderful peace signs and I thought to myself  'Groovy'.  I tried to do a tie-dyed shirt but I couldn't seem to get it right - so I ended up with a yellow and orange rounded stripey kind of shirt.....sometimes you just gotta step outside your comfort zone and go for it.  The stripes behind the image are made with washi tape from Michaels that's an inch thick - I LOVE the wide width.  Since washi tape sometimes has an transparent quality, I placed it on top of some leftover orange cardstock so it shows up a bit better.  He is colored with COPIC markers (see below for complete list).  Even though Owen is all boy, I did add a little bit of Stickles to the heart and the additional black peace sign.  The cardstock used is from Bazzill Basics Paper 'Two Scoops' collection and it's called 'Orange Sorbet'....I took a distress block and rubbed it along the pattern until the color underneath popped through.

 Here's a close up of Mr.Groovy!
