Welcome 2014

Hello my friends.  I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!  I'm sorry I've been MIA for a while.  I was on vacation from my day job for the last couple of weeks and decided to use that opportunity to recharge my batteries so to speak.  Unfortunately, on January 3, 2014 my Mother passed away suddenly.  She was 83 years old and in frail health but it was still rather unexpected.

I normally participate in both The Paper Nest Dolls challenges and the monthly Crafty Chicks blog hop but unfortunately they are both occurring today and I am not yet in a creative mind.  I do plan to participate in the next PND challenge which will start on 1/20 and then be a part of the February Crafty Chicks blog hop.

If you would like to see whats happening on both of those for this month check these links:

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon.  Thanks for understanding my need to take a bit of time off.

Heidi

  2. Dear Heidi,
My dad passed away 5 minutes into January 1, 2014 after finding out he had cancer of the abdomen on Dec. 19, 2013! He had no pain until the last 30 hours of his life and I was blessed to be with him the last 12 hours he was on earth. I've been devastated since he didn't hurt and only went to the doc on Dec. 19 due to stomach cramps. None of us kids or my mom expected this. I won't say I know your pain, but I know how I feel and I don't have good days, but I have good moments. No day is all good right now and I find myself crying even as I write this. My prayers are with you. Please write if you need to talk about anything. My e-mail address is on my blog. Hugs, Gail

    1. Thank you Gail. I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad. New Years Eve will never be the same for you, at least not any time soon. I'm so thankful my Mother waiting until after NYE. Not sure why, I just am. Back in 1993 my sister was ill and we were not very hopeful...as it got closer to my birthday I kept praying she wouldn't pass on my birthday. She passed 3 days before my birthday and we buried her the day before my birthday. It took many years before I could enjoy any type of celebration. Thank you for the kind thoughts...but you never left me your blog address so I could check it out.
