Red Carpet Studio Easter Parade Challenge

Happy Easter to all my friends out there!  I didn't realize how lucky I was to be guest designer in March for Red Carpet Studio - there are FIVE, count 'em - FIVE Sunday's in March...which means I get to participate in yet another challenge at  Red Carpet Studio Challenge Blog.  You must go to the challenge blog and use the linky gadget tool to link your blog/project for a chance to win....and it's a great prize too!!!!

The challenge for this week, March 31st - April 6th is 'Easter Parade-' and it's an Anything Goes Easter challenge....so the theme is whatever you feel like creating.  It can be cards, layouts, home decor, altered items, treat bags, Easter baskets, etc.

CHALLENGE:  "Easter Parade" - anything goes Easter challenge
SPONSOR:  Verve Stamps   shopverve.com
PRIZE: $30 gift certificate to their store

Verve was gracious enough to send the design team an Easter stamp set with the cutest darn bunny image.  I created two projects with the stamp set.  One is a 3x3 card and one is a tag.  On the 3x3 card I stamped the bunny image on a piece of patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn 'Pink Lemonade' 6x6 paper pad.  Trimmed him  out, put some twine and some stickles on his bow tie and rounded the corners.....easy peasy!  The sentiment came with the stamp set and I used a Stampin' Up label punch.

The tag was hand cut andI  used an image from the stamp set stamped with versamark and clear embossing powder.  I colored the bunny with COPIC markers (C00, C3, C5 R20, R22, R24, R27).  I used a couple of scallop bunches and a white gel pen to finish it up.

That's it for now...I hope you had a great Easter.  Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon.

Red Carpet Studio In the Garden Challenge

Hello my friends!  Today is my second card challenge as a Guest Designer for Red Carpet Studio.  The information for Red Carpet Studio Challenge  for the week of March 24th - March 30th is as follows:

CHALLENGE: "The Secret Garden" –  use flowers on your card
SPONSOR: Saturated Canary - http://saturated-canary.myshopify.com/
PRIZE: 2 digis of winner’s choice

I was EXTREMELY excited (insert happy dance here) to hear that Saturated Canary was one of the sponsor's during my Guest DT gig with Red Carpet Studio.....Saturated Canary images are drawn by the uber-talented Krista Smith and I absolutely adore her images. I first ran across her while following Suzanne J Dean's blog 'Scrapbitz'. I fell in love with Krista's images. I have 40 (yep, I said 40, it's not a typo) of her images in my own personal collection. They are fabulous to color and most of the images have wonderful yet challenging hair to color. I'm good at coloring everything in the image but still need to practice, practice, practice that darned hair. Check out her images and I know you'll fall in love with her too.

Now on to the card I've created for this challenge:
This little darling is called 'Turtle Lurv'.  She was printed on my Epson Workforce 545 printer.  It's wonderful for printing digital images.  I can print and color with COPIC markers immediately, no waiting, no heatsetting...just print and color.  The patterned papers used are from the new Lawn Fawn 6x6 paper pad collection called 'Pink Lemonade'.  I used my COPIC markers and flowers from my stash. The sentiment is from the 'Pink Lemonade' matching sticker sheet.  I used a Lifestyle Crafts (fka QuicKutz) die to cut out my image and the mat behind it.

Please check out the link to the challenge blog above and be sure to enter a card for your chance to win!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon!

Swing Into Spring Challenge

Hello my friends.  Before I get into the card challenge this month I'd like to discuss something.  Some of you may recall that my 82 year old Mother lives with me and it's been quite the wild ride for the last 18 months.  Last week she went into the hospital to have bypass surgery on both her legs to improve the blood flow to her feet.  She's been in ICU going on 8 days now.  She's recovering from the surgery perfectly but has developed pulminary/respiratory issues as many patients do, especially those of her age.  I've been with her every day in ICU and as I remembered that I needed to update my blog with this new challenge for the Sunshine Mail Foundation it hit me.....what a wonderful thing Sunshine Mail is.....how wonderful it is to have patients, especially children, in a hospital receive happy cards.  Any child that is ill and perhaps confined in an ICU unit is unable to receive flowers and such....but cards can always be delievered.  It makes me very happy to be a part of this wonderful organization.  Okay so on to the card....

A Day for Daisies is the wonderful sponsor for this Swing Into Spring challenge.  I love the images because they are very simple, yet detailed and are great for coloring.

This digital image is called Spring Flowers for Growing and I thought it was perfect for this challenge.  If you haven't tried digital images before you really should.  They are so easy to use. You receive them immediately, can resize them and also flip the images.  I could have flipped her so that she was facing left.  That's a great advantage when you want to do mirror images or need to situate the focal point left or right.

My apologies up front because I didn't write down the supplies I used to make this card.  I colored her with COPIC markers and used a Spellbinders Label die to cut out the image and the mat.  The sentiment is from a PaperTrey Ink set and the flowers are from my stash.  I can't remember the paper pad used.

If you would like to participate in this challenge (which runs through the end of March) check out the Sunshine Mail Challenge Blog.  It should be updated with this new challenge starting today, 3/15.

Just a reminder as to what Sunshine Mail is in case you're unfamiliar with this great foundation.....Sunshine Mail Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit, provides children in need comfort, support and joy through free Sunshine Mail Care Packages.  Sunshine Mail is filled with handmade cards, care essentials and other age appropriate items and delivered to children in hospitals, homeless shelters and in foster care.

Check out their website:  Sunshine Mail Foundation

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!

Lucky Leprechaun Blog Hop - Day 2

Hello my friends....have I got news for you!  I've been asked to be a guest designer for Red Carpet Studio's card design team for the month of March.  And to start the month off with a bang is a blog hop....my first blog hop.....EVER!  Read on to find out how you can enter and win!

Welcome to Day 2 of the Lucky Leprechaun Blog Hop, brought to you by the card design team of Red Carpet Studio!

If you've come from Anneliese's blog, you're in the right place. If you've just come across the hop and would like to start at the beginning, please visit Red Carpet Studio.

This hop was put together to share with you fun and creative ideas for St. Patrick's Day projects along with introduce you to our new design team members AND officially announce our March Lucky Link-Up contest!

Before we get to all that fun information, I'd like to share my project with you. I created a card in the shape of a Leprechaun's hat. It was actually pretty easy to create.  Just take a piece of green cardstock, fold in half, round the top corners and then cut a strip of green for the brim and black for the band.  I inked the edges just to give it some dimension.
Then I punched out a square of yellow cardstock and then trimmed around it to form a buckle.  I punched out several hearts to create the shamrocks.

Then to finish it up, I used VersaMark ink and stamped line art and solid shamrocks for a background and embossed a sentiment in white. Easy peasy!!!!!

And of course we have some wonderful sponsors giving away prizes to those who comment both days on every stop of the hop. :)

3 digis of winner's choice

6 digital image sets

5 digital stamps

$10 gift certificate

Winners will be announced at Red Carpet Studio on Tuesday March 5th along with the winners of our wedding/anniversary card challenge.
